Me
Sandra Wilkins is a fifth generation Oklahoman and enjoys writing fiction involving the state’s history. Besides being an author, she is also an artist—writing and art having been passions since childhood.

She currently lives in central Oklahoma with her husband and two daughters where she is working on her next novel.

In the summer of 1905, well-known actress Ada Marsh arrives in Shawnee, Oklahoma Territory, with her fiancé and acting troupe. Ada is impressed with the young prospering town and its people.

While giving an interview with a local newspaper reporter, Gwen Sanders, Ada meets Gwen’s cousin, Luke Logan, and friend, Rose Dennis. Ada is immediately taken with her new friends, especially Luke. He is unlike any man she has ever known, especially her fiancé, Hugh.

Just as Ada is becoming fast friends with her new acquaintances, she discovers Hugh’s flirtations with a local actress. She bids farewell to him and her old career and decides to make a new life for herself in Shawnee.

Luke Logan decides to pursue Ada, but she keeps him at arm’s length. The charming farmer will have to endeavor to earn her trust in order to win her heart.

I was a shy girl and teenager, who found solace and joy in reading, writing and pursuing art. In elementary school, I made my first “book” by taping paper together, writing the story and drawing the pictures.

In high school, an English teacher, Ms. Wilson, awoke my imagination with her creative writing exercises. My art teacher, Mrs. Yoakum, was also a mentor and friend who let me express myself through drawing, painting and sculpture without negative criticism. My grandma, Vera Broudrick, was always encouraging me to keep writing my stories. I wrote my first novel before graduating. I did rewrites on it for years before putting it aside to write Ada’s Heart.

I was attending St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, when I met my future husband, Andy, at the retail store where we worked. My confidence and my creativity bloomed with him in my life for the last twenty years. Since 2003, we have been blessed with two beautiful girls that I have started to home school and now my first book Ada’s Heart has been published. What a great life!
